What Are You Seeking
What is it that you are seeking?
As you scroll through your Instagram feed.
As you click through Youtube videos.
As you read self-help books.
As you listen to experts and gurus.
As you pray and hope and yearn.
What is it that you are seeking?
We get so lost in chasing our desires that we don’t take a moment to rest and question.
What is it that I am seeking?
Perhaps it’s money.
A relationship.
Status.
Respect.
Security.
Most seek from the same place.
A place of fear, insecurity, inadequacy.
And from that place, fulfillment will never be found.
No matter how much is attained.
Why do we want what we want?
Is it not to compensate for our discomfort? Our discontent?
And does that not remain?
No matter how much we cover it up with the objects of our desires?
Perhaps we must take a different path.
And let go of the strategizing mind.
Perhaps we need to turn away from the objects of desire.
And return to the Self.
What if we could move differently in the world?
Not from a place of fear.
But from a place of courage and surrender.
Not from a place of insecurity.
But from a place of contentment and ease.
Not focused so desperately on outcomes.
But on appreciating the journey.
And living fully in the moment.
Like a child playing in the rain.
Or building a castle in the sand.
Like a zen master lost in their craft.
What if we are already complete?
What if our purpose is already fulfilled?
From here, life takes on a new meaning.
From here, desire is no problem.
There is movement without attachment.
Life becomes play.
A dance.
A momentary experience.
From here is where contentment begins and ends.
From here is where greatness arises.
And we can finally discover what we are truly capable of.
