The Obstacle of Prayer
Prayer is a stubborn obstacle on the path to spiritual realization.
To pray is to separate oneself from God.
To pray is to retreat from personal responsibility.
To pray is to revert to the helpless infant.
To pray is create a false image of God as parental authority.
To pray is to be the all-important subject with God as a distant object.
To pray is to talk. And never listen.
But to the realized one, there can be no separation whatsoever.
God is not an object of experience.
God is not a separate authority.
God is the only true subject, the basis of all existence.
“I” am merely God’s object.
One doesn’t appeal to divinity. One accesses it within themselves.
One doesn’t ask for strength. One becomes the embodiment of it.
Life is a mirror.
Until this is understood, suffering cannot be transcended.
